Press release no. 198/09
(01/12/2009)
The important success of the show is a boost of faith for the division. CHEM-MED has lived up to the expectations of operators, who were in need of an event able to be an efficient moment of business and professional updating
CHEM-MED, the new show dedicated to the world of scientific and laboratory instrumentation and biotechnologies, which took place at fieramilano, Rho, from 25 to 27 November 2009, gained positive feedback from both the general public and operators. The event, in fact, was the ideal response to the needs of many companies, universities and technological innovation centres of the sector, which were in need of a show able to promote the important contribution that Italy is making in the sector and be a moment of commercial cultural exchange and comparison.
During CHEM-MED, the first edition of Biotech, dedicated to a fast growing sector: that of biotechnologies, was particularly successful.
CHEM-MED 2009, with more than 250 exhibitors (among which numerous leading companies) on an exhibition area of 10,000 square metres, demonstrated in being a reference point for companies and professionals of the sector that are interested in the national market and that of the Mediterranean area. On the whole, the important event dedicated to innovation, which also included HTE (science, research and advanced technologies), Robotica (humanoid robotics and service robots), EnerSolar+ (photovoltaic and thermal solar power) and Greenergy Expo (renewable energies), was visited by 23,000 operators in three days.
The 40 conference sessions of CHEM-MED 2009, with 140 speakers, saw highly significant attendance numbers, also gained considerable interest.
Appreciation regarding the 2009 edition of CHEM-MED also came from the main associations of the sector. According to Marco Martinelli, member of the Presidency Committee of Federchimica, "CHEM-MED was, without doubt, the most important fair for chemical instrumentation. We are more and more convinced that it will become an important ?launch pad’ for innovation. We would personally like to highlight the concrete response that the chemical industry has given on this occasion, with avant-garde, low environmental impact solutions: a clear and particularly significant sign that testifies the vitality of the sector even in this difficult crisis period."
"CHEM-MED wanted to be, and certainly was, a time for meeting between workers of the sector with those who use chemicals," said Luigi Campanella, president of SCI (Società Chimica Italiana - Italian Chemical Society). "If we consider the connected fields of application of chemistry, we can understand how a suitable scientific, communicative and organizational offer such as CHEM-MED is sure to become, and already is, a sure success. A framework of the "new chemistry" which makes all the previous and stereotype negative opinion become positive came about. Today, with its creativity, flexibility and capability of inductive knowledge, it will certainly become, at the same time, an economic indicator, and tutor-guarantor of the growing quality of life."
According to Virgilio Neri, president of ISA Italy Section, "This edition of CHEM-MED was very important because it represented the re-launching of the chemical industry, and demonstrated that the sector is able to rediscover its competitiveness and excellence, with the ability to look to the future with confidence."
Giovanni Riva, president of AIS (Associazione Italiana Strumentisti - Italian Association of Instrumentalists), also declared that "CHEM-MED is the most prestigious Italian fair of the sector, with an important international effect. It has created a complete outline of the state-of-the-art of the Italian chemical industry seen through its different applications and technologies, from process to laboratory. Being there means believing in the future of a sector, which, as many others, must be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel of this financial crisis. Participating has meant finding an open door on the future and realizing that it is not so far away."
Considerable satisfaction was also expressed by Emiliano Miriani, president of the Ordine Interprovinciale dei Chimici della Lombardia - Interprovincial Order of Chemists of Lombardy, according to whom "the 2009 edition of CHEM-MED has been extremely positive both for the presence of qualified exhibitors as well as for the level of participation, among which I noted with pleasure many young people. Our conference presentations saw very good results especially those we organized in collaboration with Arpa Lombardia - resoundingly successful. CHEM-MED, with its perfect match of commercial and scientific-popular parts, is now an important innovation which will become even more important in the future."
Last but not least, Abramo Monari, secretary-general of G.I.S.I. (Associazione Imprese Italiane di Strumentazione - Italian Association of Instrumentation Companies), said "the 25 exhibitors members of G.I.S.I., both those with individual stands and those that took part in our group area, have expressed their general satisfaction for the positive results of this show, supported by a good number of contacts regarding qualified visitors. Most of the companies present confirmed that the number of people coming to the stand and the results obtained were well over those expected."
The next edition of CHEM-MED will be held from 19 to 21 October 2011, at fieramilano, Rho, while the appointment with Biotech s nearer: from 26 to 28 October 2010, at fieramilanocity, together with NUCE International, the Italian fair on nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and functional food and drinks.
"After the positive results obtained this year, we have decided to plan the new dates immediately, which have been chosen to satisfy the needs of exhibitors," said Marco Pinetti, president of Artenergy Publishing, the company that organizes the event. "Companies can therefore book their exhibition area for the next editions even now."
